The role of a Process Operations Technician involves performing various tasks in a chemical industry setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine maintenance such as strainer cleaning, filter change, and coolant top-up.
- Initiate, manage, and shut down process equipment operations according to Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions.
- Isolate piping systems for plant start-ups, shutdowns, product grade changes, and troubleshooting operations.
- Adjust process parameters to optimize process operations under the supervision of senior personnel.
- Collect process samples from designated sampling points in a safe manner.
- Work in a laboratory environment conducting in-process sample testing to ensure product quality.
- Commission and de-commission process equipment.
- Execute emergency shutdown of process equipment.
- Handle non-conforming and off-spec products correctly.
- Prepare plant equipment for maintenance and ensure all required Lockout, Tagout procedures have been performed.
- Mix chemicals for process operations.
- Perform inter-tank transfers of chemicals and products based on established quality procedures.
- Participate in emergency response activities and drills.
- Maintain acceptable housekeeping in assigned areas.
- Review final product and process analytical results, and DCS conditions/trends.
- Understand and adhere to departmental Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to the improvement of the Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Programs.
- Hold NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Process Technology.
- Have at least 3 years' experience working as a Process Technician in a chemical industry.
