Environmental Sustainability Specialist

We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing sustainability-related projects and programs that support our company's sustainability targets and long-term vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main interface between Operations, Facilities, and the Sustainability department.
  • Monitor and drive improvements in emissions, consumptions, and efficiency in collaboration with the Facilities department.
  • Plan and execute sustainability projects aligned with our objectives.
  • Implement and maintain a systemic Chemical Management program, including automation of chemical distribution and enhancing chemical usage efficiency as part of our chemical reduction plan.
  • Assess risks associated with chemicals and raw materials used within our premises.
  • Manage Hazardous Substance handling on site in compliance with Corporate Standard Operating Procedures, as well as local and EU regulations.
  • Lead the implementation of the Chemical Reduction program.
  • Develop and update company policies and procedures related to Sustainability.
  • Maintain the company's ISO Standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Central CCFS group and Corporate, ensuring timely submission of reports and accountability for required actions.
  • Participate actively in the adaptation to applicable CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and ESG requirements.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (e.g., Environmental Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Bioengineer, etc.).
  • Proven knowledge of Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Physics.
  • Experience or knowledge of the global and our Sustainable Strategy.
  • Proven understanding of the Legal Environmental context of Malta or Europe.
  • Proven ability of leadership skills and project management.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with Standard Systems, such as ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
