Job Description:

The role involves advising on a wide range of derivative and structured transactions with a commodities underlying. This includes providing legal advice on secured hedging transactions, structured note issuances, and structured commodity derivatives trade.

The successful candidate will be involved in assisting with legal questions that arise in the negotiation of various commodities master trading agreements and bespoke transaction confirmations. Additionally, they will be responsible for assessing and advising on regulatory requirements relating to existing/new/expanded markets, as well as helping with the development of template documentation for trades in new markets or asset classes.

The ideal candidate will have strong derivatives trading and structured transaction experience, with knowledge of how Commodities markets function and the underlying regulatory framework. A good understanding of physical commodities trading would be beneficial, but not essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Lawyer with strong derivatives trading and structured transaction experience
  • Experience in advising on both commodity derivatives trading and physical commodities trading
  • Legal qualification in a major financial centre
  • Good knowledge of how Commodities markets function and underlying regulatory framework
  • At least 6 years' relevant experience
