Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional outcomes through the design and construction of tunnels, particularly for dams and hydropower projects.

This role requires an experienced professional with a strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and tunneling methods. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 20 years of professional experience, and at least 15 years of expertise in a relevant field.

  • Review and undertake detailed design, planning, and execution of tunnel structures as part of the hydropower project.
  • Supervise the execution of tunnel activities undertaken by contractors, lead and guide local engineers for effective supervision of works.
  • Recommend and approve scope of work for additional investigations for underground works, including tunnels and shafts.
  • Review geology and geotechnical information relating to tunnels and power intake structure.
  • Approve drilling programs for underground investigation requirements.
  • Review designs and layouts of all tunnelling and related works for the project.
  • Suggest and monitor safety measures for staff, materials, and works.
  • Prepare technical reports relating to tunnel design or execution of tunnel works.
  • Check diversion and power intake drawings prepared by CAD operators.
  • Input to site design group for assessment of required design updating.
  • Prepare FEA models using actual field data.
  • Perform technical assessments and analyses related to tunnel construction and stability.
  • Oversee quality assurance and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Monitor and report project progress relating to tunnels and suggest measures to eliminate risks during construction.

Strong communication skills are essential for this role.
