Based from our Singapore office, the Tunnel Engineer & Senior Tunnel Engineer will provide support on a wide range of underground work projects such as Metro, Rail and deep excavations both locally and regionally. You will be part of a team that is responsible for preparation of reference, conceptual, preliminary, and final design plans, specifications, and estimates.
The role will include the following:

- Be involved in the delivery of a wide range of engineering projects including deep underground excavations, and MRT projects.
- Be involved in various stages of projects including strategy evaluation, detailed appraisal, concept development, detailed design and administration of contracts.
- Involved in the design of bored tunnels, cross passages, mined tunnels and other associated underground structures mainly for transport sector but periodically other sectors (Water,
Energy and Built Environment).
- Work in project teams for the delivery, design, and documentation of project requirements for our transport projects.
- Contribute to the preparation of standard documents, such as technical specifications, in accordance with applicable design codes;
- Interact and liaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients and third parties as needed;
- Works to support Mott MacDonald’s larger tunnel practice - regionally and globally
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil / Structural, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university;
- Specialisation in tunnels and tunnelling during university studies is advantageous.
- Ambitious, highly motivated and strong interest in tunnels and tunnelling.
- 2 to 7 years of design experience in tunnels, caverns, shafts, deep braced excavations and other underground structures/projects;
- A strong understanding and background in geology and site investigation.
- Experience working in a consulting engineering environment;
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills;
- A drive for precision, excellent analytical skills and a quality-oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
- Computer literate and familiar with the latest design software packages, AI, digital technology and coding.
