Job Description:

Carpentry design involves working with clients to create functional and buildable designs for carpentry works. This includes managing the full design process, interpreting client briefs, and coordinating with sales, project, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full design process for carpentry works
  • Interpret client briefs and translate into functional, buildable designs
  • Coordinate with sales, project, and production teams to ensure design feasibility and buildability

Technical Detailing:

  • Prepare or review detailed drawings, joinery details, and material specifications using AutoCAD/SketchUp/Revit or similar
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety, and design standards

Team Leadership & Supervision:

  • Manage a team of in-house or outsourced designers/drafters
  • Review and approve shop drawings before submission to clients and production

Client and Stakeholder Liaison:

  • Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and site personnel to clarify design intent and resolve technical issues
  • Presentation of design concepts and management of feedback

Coordination & Quality Assurance:

  • Coordinate design changes between client, QS, production, and site installation teams
  • Ensure accurate, updated, and timely issuance of design documentation

Material and Product Knowledge:

  • Stay updated on carpentry materials, fittings (e.g., Blum, Hafele), finishes (laminates, veneers, spray paints), and sustainable solutions
  • Recommend appropriate materials based on aesthetics, durability, and cost

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in carpentry or interior fit-out design
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar
  • Strong technical knowledge in joinery and fabrication methods
  • Good leadership, communication, and coordination skills
