Procurement Manager Position

This role encompasses the procurement of bunker fuel for vessels, ensuring a safe operating margin for performance. The key responsibilities include sourcing quotations/prices, evaluating and confirming suppliers with endorsement from the Head of Procurement on the bunker price.

  • Manage overall bunker supplier evaluation process, including quality, quantity and other bunker operations-related performance metrics.
  • Identify and resolve all bunker operations-related issues.
  • Manage and monitor document all bunker activities.
  • Liaise with Master/Operations Manager/Superintendents to meet vessel's bunker specifications.
  • Communicate bunker nomination to suppliers, vessels, agents and related parties within the company and follow up on the status of surveyor appointment till bunkers lifting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Source quotations/prices for bunker fuel from various suppliers.
  2. Evaluate and confirm suppliers based on their quality, quantity and operational capabilities.
  3. Manage overall bunker supplier evaluation process to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Identify and resolve all bunker operations-related issues in a timely manner.
  5. Monitor and document all bunker activities to ensure transparency and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Logistics, Shipping or Economics (desired).
  • Min. 6-8 years relevant working experience in physical bunker and fuel oil procurement for vessels/ships.
  • Relevant technical and analytical skills, ability to set priorities.
  • Reliable track record in shipping industry.
  • Excellent communication and social skills.
  • Team player, well-organized and structured.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Good computer skills, familiar with IMOS software would be an advantage.
  • Good verbal and writing skills in English and Chinese to communicate with Chinese-speaking business partners.
