Business Analyst - Portfolio Management and Data Analysis

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join our team in portfolio management and data analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, managing, and implementing changes within the organisation.

The role involves eliciting, analysing, refining, validating and formally documenting business requirements, so that an optimal solution to the requirement can be identified and implemented.

The Business Analyst will also play the role of Project Manager for smaller initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders, applying effective elicitation methods/ standards/tools.
  • Analyse and validate requirements using a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Conduct impact assessments to identify 'as-is' processes, systems, and 'future' processes, systems and structures.
  • Perform data analysis to cleanse & standardise data and ensure data consistency and quality.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders and obtain formal sign-off of all requirement documentation.
  • Liaise with service providers to ensure understanding of requirements and limitations of solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively and proactively with external and internal stakeholders.

They should understand defined Project Management methodologies and frameworks.

Experience in working as a business analyst within the asset management or wealth management industry would be an advantage.

Familiarity with Asian local market and regulatory practice is also desirable.

The candidate should be self-motivated, self-driving and independent, attentive to detail and able to handle ambiguity.

They should have experience in using business analyst methods such as flow charting, requirements capturing, stakeholder analysis, use cases, brainstorming, solution prototyping, and traceability.

Agile tools like Jira and Confluence would also be beneficial.

Domain Specific Attributes:

The candidate should have working knowledge in portfolio management, performance & attribution, risk modeling, pre/post trade compliance, liquidity management, trade execution and other buy side trade life cycle and monitoring processes.

They should have working experience in major asset classes and associated analytics.

A strong foundation in buy side enterprise data model including portfolio structure, security reference data, market data, pricing, transactions & position, finance and product data is required.

A good understanding of Middle Office and Back Office outsourcing arrangements is also essential.
