Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our shipping division, including coordinating agency appointments, reviewing PDAs and FDAs, and communicating with charterers, brokers, agents, and vessels regarding voyage orders and vessel itineraries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating agency appointments, reviewing PDAs and FDAs.
  • Communicating with charterers, brokers, agents, and vessels regarding voyage orders and vessel itineraries.
  • Planning, preparing, and circulating loading & discharging operations and coordinating with various parties like Master, attending port captains, stevedores, agents, and other related parties for efficient turnaround in ports.
  • Monitoring vessel movements and performances.
  • Reviewing and preparing cargo stowage plans to optimize cargo liftings for bulk/breakbulk or project cargo, including making stowage plans, lashing/bedding plans, lashing calculations, and other cargo documents.
  • Monitoring hold cleaning plans, including the supply of chemicals and supervisors.
  • Proper planning of bunker supplies and coordination with bunker suppliers.
  • Experience handling claims, liaising with the P&I clubs, and legal teams to resolve disputes/arbitration.
  • Attending vessels and supervising cargo operations whenever critical shipments are going to be loaded to vessels.
  • Sourcing and purchasing materials required for cargo operations.
  • Performing cost control procedures for voyage expenses and verifying bills received from agents and vendors.
  • Supporting the Chartering team for fixing potential shipments and checking/confirming suitability for the vessels going to chart-in.
  • Assisting the chartering team for maximum cargo uplift, stowage plan, and port information inquiries for prospective vessel's employment.
  • Guiding the postfix team to calculate voyage laytime, chart-hire, and freight, ensuring all invoices are correct before sending to the accounts department for settlement.
  • Coordinating operations strategies and activities to ensure operational efficiency and meet objectives effectively.
  • Effectively managing, motivating team members, and conducting performance assessments.
  • Identifying weaknesses in current procedures/practices/processes, summarizing solutions for top management approval, and implementing improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in shipping operations for bulk, breakbulk, parcelling, and project cargo.
  • Master Mariner with shore job experience in operations for bulk, breakbulk, parcelling, and project or sailing experience in a similar shipping trade is preferred.
  • Preferably have fruitful experience loading windmill components, project cargo, and general cargoes.
  • Ability to use CAD, FEMAP, or other similar software for stowage plans.
