Job Description">

We are seeking a talented video storyteller to join our team. As the Assistant News Editor, you will be responsible for conceptualising, writing and producing creative visual content that engages our audiences across web, app and social platforms.

You will identify newsworthy and hottest stories, guide journalists to produce videos that resonate with our audience, and collaborate with videographers, video editors and motion designers to produce videos.

">

Your role will involve crafting and shaping video stories for news, current affairs, and sociocultural stories, as well as experimenting with concepts and formats such as explainers.

">

As a highly collaborative team player, you will actively work with cross-functional teams and the wider newsroom to produce varied visual content.

">

With a strong command of English, you must have excellent communication skills and be able to connect with the audience through natural, conversational scripting style.

">

Curiosity, resourcefulness and a willingness to learn are critical, as is a desire to stay up-to-date on the latest news, audience and content trends.

  • Guide and grow team of producers/videographers/video editors/motion designers">
  • Conceptualise, script and produce videos for various platforms">

  • Stay on top of latest news, audience and content trends">
  • Engage with team's video analytics to shape editorial content">

Required Skills and Qualifications">

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree in Video Production, Journalism, English, Marketing, Communications or Advertising">
  • At least five years of experience in a similar role">
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills">
  • Ability to write and produce video packages">
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and other video editing software">
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and video publishing systems">
  • Ability to present and do voice-overs">
  • Seniority level: Mid-Senior level">
