Job Title: Clinical Lactation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced clinical lactation specialist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for breastfeeding support and have the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff to promote exclusive breastfeeding practices.

  • The selected individual will be responsible for implementing and promoting breastfeeding best practices in our hospital, including providing education and training to nursing staff on core and specialty skills related to breastfeeding and infant care.
  • Maintaining current trends in nursing practice through ongoing formal education and self-development is also an essential requirement of this role.
  • The successful candidate will assist in the implementation, assessment, and evaluation of nurses' competencies in relation to breastfeeding, ensuring that they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality patient care.
  • This position also involves conducting educational sessions and workshops to enhance nursing staff's knowledge and skills in assisting mothers with breastfeeding, as well as providing regular feedback and coaching to ensure they are meeting their full potential.
  • A key aspect of this role is maintaining accurate records, statistics, and schedules for lactation services, ensuring that we can effectively track and analyze our progress in supporting breastfeeding mothers.
  • The successful candidate will also review and develop hospital policies and programs related to breastfeeding, working closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration and effective implementation.
  • Finally, participation in internal and external events to promote the organization's maternity services will be an important part of this role, helping us to raise awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and the support services we offer.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution is required for this role.
  • The selected individual must have at least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar job position and department, demonstrating a proven track record of success in breastfeeding support and promotion.
  • Valid IBCLC certification and registration with the Singapore Nursing Board are also essential requirements for this position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital for this role, as the successful candidate will be working closely with nursing staff, patients, and other stakeholders to promote breastfeeding and provide high-quality patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is also essential, as the selected individual will be responsible for coordinating with multiple departments and stakeholders to achieve our breastfeeding goals.
