Quantum Computing Research Scientist Job

We are seeking a seasoned quantum computing research scientist to help us advance the development of software tools for emerging quantum technologies. The successful candidate will lead a team in researching and implementing novel quantum algorithms, collaborate closely with our product, engineering, and design teams to develop enabling technology behind our products, and ensure successful implementation of product features and specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of quantum algorithms, quantum complexity, and experience in implementing these algorithms in code. Additionally, they should possess excellent leadership skills, a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology, and a proven track record of leading research projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise teams to deliver work according to schedule and company roadmap
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement Horizon's products
  • Solve scientific and technical problems in support of Horizon's product development and implement solutions in computer code for integration with Horizon's products and services
  • Develop quantum algorithms within Horizon's products framework
  • Mentor junior scientists on the team to enhance their progress and improve technical skills
  • Maintain proper documentation of work and present results internally and externally
  • Write reports, research papers, and technical documentation as required by the company
  • Work with colleagues and external partners to develop and protect novel intellectual property related to quantum hardware and software innovations
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest scientific and technical advancements

Requirements:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Quantum Computing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8 years or more of post-doctoral work experience
  • Experience in managing teams of scientists
  • Strong leadership ability to drive a team
  • Expertise in quantum algorithms and quantum complexity
  • Experience implementing quantum algorithms in code
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from inception to publication or commercial product release
  • Programming experience with C, C++, Python, and preferably Matlab
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Highly motivated with a passion for learning and driving technical progress
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with commercial software development
  • Experience collaborating with experimental teams
