Research Scientist Position

Job Summary:

The position of Research Scientist will involve leading the design, execution, and troubleshooting of experiments related to microbial short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and their role in mucosal healing in ulcerative colitis. This includes conducting advanced molecular biology, immunology, and microbiome analyses, such as metagenomics, metabolomics, and immunophenotyping of colonic tissues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research experiments and analyzing data using computational pipelines for microbiome and metabolite profiling
  • Developing and optimizing small animal models of colitis to investigate the mechanistic role of SCFA-producing microbes in mucosal repair
  • Training junior members in proper laboratory safety and animal ethics compliance

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field with a strong background in molecular biology, immunology, and microbiome research
  • Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and computational pipeline development
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
