Job Description
You will play a crucial role in designing and developing sophisticated Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) systems and algorithms for unmanned aircraft systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating cutting-edge GNC solutions that enable safe and reliable drone operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and modifying guidance, navigation, and flight control systems and algorithms for our unmanned aircraft systems.
  • Creating and refining 6-DOF and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation environments.
    • Selecting, testing, evaluating, and integrating new sensors or navigation systems onto our drone systems.
  • Writing, modifying, and testing firmware and flight code that runs on the flight control computers of our drone systems (in C or C++).
  • Analyzing flight data to verify flight performance and troubleshoot issues that arise during flights of our drone systems.
  • Generating documentation on the specifications, design, test procedures, and test results of the GNC systems and algorithms developed.
  • Participating in design and code reviews.
  • Supporting ground and flight test activities.
  • Collaborating with staff from other engineering groups (e.g., system, software, safety, flight test, etc.) and business units.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of industry or relevant experience in GNC is required.
  • Strong background in system modeling, system identification, parameter estimation, frequency response analysis, classical and modern control theory.
  • Experience in system modeling and control, analysis, and simulation in aircraft applications.
  • Experience in developing model-based design and analyses using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Knowledge in inertial and other types of sensors for navigation (e.g., accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, GNSS receivers, pressure sensors, ranging sensors, etc.).
  • Knowledge in Kalman filtering, digital signal processing, and sensor data fusion.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming language.
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Linux, ROS, and Git.
