This role is centered around providing expert support to the tanker operations team in managing and resolving shipment-related claims. This entails conducting thorough laytime analyses, evaluating demurrage liabilities, and communicating effectively with customers regarding potential claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the tanker operations team to manage and resolve demurrage and other shipment-related claims efficiently.
- Conduct detailed laytime analyses to evaluate demurrage liabilities and provide accurate information to customers about potential claims.
- Ensure prompt and consistent communication with customers regarding claim submissions, progress updates, and approaching time-bar deadlines.
- Actively engage in discussions and follow up diligently on all unresolved claims until they are fully settled.
- Maintain a comprehensive database with shipment details, claim information, and status tracking for seamless reference.
- Issue invoices and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding payments for streamlined financial management.
- Foster expertise in shipping documents, charter party agreements, and their interpretations to enhance negotiation capabilities during claim discussions.
- Support the department with documentation, administrative tasks, and other duties as directed by the department head.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Maritime Studies or a relevant discipline.
- Prior exposure to claims handling or commercial shipping operations would be highly beneficial.
- A motivated and proactive individual with excellent communication skills.
- Highly detail-focused and organized with a strong work approach.
