Commodities Application Support Engineer

Balyasny Asset Management L.P. is undergoing a period of rapid technological transformation. This exciting role within our Global Support group offers a unique opportunity to support our Commodities front office applications, data, and their integration with middle and back-office systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance, support, and maintain the firm's Commodities front, middle, and back-office systems.
  • Collaborate with the global Application Support team based in multiple locations worldwide.
  • Proactively engage with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Analysts to resolve issues and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Document common support issues, trade flows, and procedures on Confluence.
  • Roll out, set up, and educate end-users on new product implementations.
  • Support other geographic locations, including monitoring jobs running overnight in Asia, EU, and US.
  • Work with external vendors' technical support teams to resolve issues and deliver strategic enhancements.
  • Provide escalation support for other regions, including evenings and weekends, on a rotational basis.
Requirements:
  • An ambitious self-starter with a hunger for knowledge.
  • Keen to share knowledge in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated with a passion to succeed.
  • A strong and efficient communicator.
  • Able to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced trading environment.
Technical Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience working with investment banks, asset managers, commodity houses, investment advisors, or associated software vendors.
  • A thorough understanding of the trade life cycle for Commodities products, such as Gas, Power, Oil, Metals, Ags, or Freight.
  • Experience supporting physical commodities trading.
  • Experience supporting Production environments within an ITIL framework and Development environments using agile methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting Commodities trading platforms such as Trayport Joule, WebICE, and EEX.
  • Experience supporting CTRM/ETRM platforms such as ION Endur/CXL and Openlink.
  • Knowledge of Market Data services – Trayport/B-PIPE/MorningStar.
  • Knowledge of Messaging platforms – RabbitMQ/Solace/Kafka.
  • SQL experience across various database implementations, including MSSQL.
  • Exposure to support of Linux, C++, C#, Python-based applications.
