Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to join our Eye Surgery Centre team at the National University Health System PTE. LTD. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing personalized, specialized, and cost-effective care to patients in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical tests and procedures for patients independently, including visual field, IOL calculation, A Scan, Pentacam, and others.
  • Instruct and supervise junior technicians in Ocular Coherent Tomography and Indocyanine Green Angiography.
  • Develop photo images for clinical examination purposes, including slit lamp photos, fundus photos, and stereodisc photos.
  • Carry out procedures and investigations as prescribed by clinicians.
  • Deliver safe and competent care to patients at clinics.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient care and services.
  • Provide patient and family information and education on disease prevention.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide new or junior technicians in their work.
  • Maintain updated records on diagnostic equipment inventory and ensure regular preventive maintenance.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for inventory, storing, archiving, and retrieval of photoslides and images.
  • Assist with slide presentations, photographic coverage during teaching seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Participate in service quality activities.
  • Participate in community screening initiatives set up by the ophthalmology department and Eye Surgery Centre.
  • Ensure patients' needs and waiting times are addressed.
  • Demonstrate awareness of current ophthalmology disease management and healthcare practices.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by Nurse Managers/Executives and Senior clinicians.
Requirements
  • Minimum NITEC qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician with consistent good performance.
  • Effectively bilingual in English and another language.
  • Possess good interpersonal, strong team spirit, and communication skills.
  • IT savvy and competent in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Display compassion, a positive, and caring attitude towards patients, internal, and external customers.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
