Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, and fabrication methods.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mechanical design of precision components and subsystems to support the development of next-generation semiconductor metrology equipment. This includes gathering and translating technical requirements into subsystem specifications, conducting preliminary feasibility studies, and proposing and completing designs from conceptual to detailed drawings.

The role also involves conducting analysis and simulations, including structural, thermal, vibration, and modal Finite Element Analyses (FEAs), as well as participating and leading design reviews to obtain peer-oriented design assessments.

In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will participate in and lead design verification/validation activities, including fit/form testing, risk analysis, and test planning. They will also ensure all design requirements are appropriately specified and parts quality meets specifications through inspection on incoming components.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and testing at both subsystem and system levels. They will develop and release comprehensive documentation of designs and provide training on new procedures and designs.

Lastly, the successful candidate will apply standard problem-solving methods to identify root causes of sub-system and system test failures and collaborate with manufacturing teams during product ramp-up to support and troubleshoot product issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 0-3 years of work experience

Preferred qualifications include experience in opto-mechanical design, precision mechanism, vibration isolation and damping, flexure and compliant mechanism, structural optimization, tooling and test fixture design, design with carbon fiber composite, elastomers, high-performance plastic material, design for cleanliness, motion stage design, and temperature control design.
