SMBC is embarking a journey to transform the business model by providing Value added Digital solutions to customers to help them digitize their operations to improve financial efficiency, primarily focusing on APAC market with the ambition of expanding the business model globally.

Asia Innovation Center is taking the lead on the Digital Initiatives and establishing a strong Digital team to drive the business model transformation of SMBC with rigor. Reporting to the GM of Asia Innovation Centre, this role will lead the new Digitally enabled business developments in collaboration with SMBC's Corporate Venture Capital - SMBC Asia Rising Fund. This includes designing new business schemes in collaboration with startups, customers, tech players and SMBC Group companies and leading the implementation of business schemes.

This lead role will define and manage the end-to-end program and specifically work with SMBC Group companies in Japan and Asia Pacific.

. Developing action-oriented initiatives and plans in consultation with business leaders and management team with clearly defined KPIs and business outcomes, for the collaboration with startups and investee companies of CVC.

. Support framework and methodology to develop Go-to-market plan, run pipeline development initiatives along with key business leaders.

. Planning and driving implementation actions, together with relevant functions to enable regulatory, legal entity, policy, and procedural changes.

. Stakeholder management and engagement approach to facilitate the design and delivery of Digital initiatives.

. Own the end-to-end lifecycle of the business collaborations with investee companies.

Job Requirements

. Bachelor's degree or equivalent

. 8+ years of work experience in business development, new business development using Digital technologies and startup collaboration.

. Banking experience is an added advantage.

. Deep understanding in Japanese Financial Service Agency (JFSA) regulations and guidelines in startup collaboration

. Proficiency in Japanese is preferred as this role needs to prepare regular reports to liaise with Head Office

. Knowledge of Japanese Banking Law is an advantage.
