The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. We are seeking a Project Officer to join the laboratory of Pinaki Sengupta at SPMS. The incumbent will contribute to a project focused on Computational studies of quantum magnets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Construct realistic microscopic models of low-dimensional quantum magnets
  • Develop numerical algorithms to simulate the microscopic models
  • Use large scale simulations to investigate the properties of the microscopic models developed


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in related fields
  • Experience in quantum many body physics
  • Expertise in advanced numerical methods such as Density Matrix renormalization Group (DMRG), Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is essential to conduct research
  • Experience in using large scale supercomputing facilities.
