Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Planning
    • Planning of department’s resource to meet or exceed the SLA.
    • Managing the team’s cost within budget.
  • Business Performance and Management
    • Manage the team’s performance and resources to ensure delivery of efficient and responsive service to both internal and external customers.
    • Manage outsourcing partners/vendors.
    • Resolve any complaints from clients due to staff mistakes and implement necessary changes to prevent recurrence.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on unit‑related matters.
      • Engage stakeholders on products and processes – streamline processes.
      • Liaise with BU especially when they introduce new products or initiatives/campaigns.
      • Liaise with agents and banks to ensure Trade Finance services are effected timely.
    • Work with ITD on system and application matters, including enhancements, issue resolution, new product/process and industry‑related requirements.
    • Ensure departmental policies, procedures, and SOPs are effective, updated, and aligned with the bank’s policies.
  • People Management
    • Lead and build a high‑performing, highly engaged team by setting career development and succession plans.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development, encouraging team members to pursue growth opportunities.
    • Guide and train staff in areas where they are lacking.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by leading through example and embracing EPICC culture and values.
    • Empower and motivate team members.

    • Cultivate a positive, open, and trusting working environment, fostering collaboration and mutual support.
    • Provide guidance on daily issues and exceptional handling.
    • Collaborate with BU/RM/stakeholders on operational issues, ensuring alignment of objectives and goals to minimize overlap or gaps.
  • Risk and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure staff are briefed on SOPs, and procedures are updated and submitted on time for approval.
    • Submit all RCSA, operational risk, and regulatory reports on time.
    • Ensure staff comply with MAS regulations 626, 641, 646, and the Banking Act (chapter 19).
    • Oversee identification, assessment, and monitoring of key drivers for all non‑financial and compliance risks that could impact the unit.
    • Proactively prevent risks by identifying and managing risks at source during strategy planning, product design, system implementation, or process changes.
    • Perform regulatory gap analysis for new or revised guidelines, ensuring adequate risk and controls are in place.
    • Manage and address regulatory expectations, including audit examinations and queries.
    • Monitor and report risk indicators, escalating operational risk events with mitigating actions to stakeholders and risk committees.
    • Ensure timely assessment, escalation, and resolution of operational risk events to minimize potential losses, and conduct deep‑dives to identify root causes and implement preventive controls.
  • Projects
    • Participate in and manage projects related to Private Banking Operations.
    • Provide business requirements and review Functional Specification Documents (FSD).
    • Monitor project testing and provide guidance to the team.
    • Liaise with IT, BU, or vendors on defect resolution and changes.
    • Manage industry projects and initiatives related to Private Banking Operations.

Key Requirements

  • University Degree or Diploma or equivalent in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business or Law.
  • Minimum 15 years banking experience in banking‑related functions/roles, with at least 7 years in Private Banking Operations.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Private Banking, Wealth Management, and Investment products and processes.
  • Good understanding of MAS guidelines and/or regulations relating to Wealth Management, Investment and Private Banking.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively to build alliances and partnerships with stakeholders.
