ANGEL is looking for aResearch Engineer/Research Scientist to support research work underthe project "Urban Sustainability" which aims to develop a suite oftechniques for efficiently and effectively building new digitalinfrastructure of city scenes, managing all city data in a highdefinition and 3D/4D referencing system, and performing simulation,interaction, and analysis on the digital twin city model.Specifically, the Research Engineer/Research Scientist will work oncity-scale digital twin of road traffic to increase sustainability.Achieving this goal requires accurate and up-to-date models ofcurrent real-world traffic conditions as well as methods for fastsimulation to support real-time decision making and what-ifanalyses. Hence, methods will be developed for fast data-drivencreation and calibration of traffic models, with an emphasis onapproaches for data assimilation from real-time sources.Intelligent scheduling mechanisms to execute simulation runs in thecloud will ensure timely results, together with new approaches tosupport the parallelization of individual simulations by modelanalysis, variable model fidelity, and the use of hardwareaccelerators such as graphics processing units (GPUs).

  • To supportresearch work under the project "Urban Sustainability" and supportresearch on work on city-scale digital twin of road traffic toincrease sustainability.
  • Work on developingaccurate and up-to-date models of current real-world trafficconditions as well as methods for fast simulation to supportreal-time decision making and what-ifanalyses.
  • To conduct high-quality research onalgorithm design, analysis, and performance evaluation and publishresearch outcomes in top tier conferences andjournals.
JobRequirements:
  • MEng/PhDdegree in computer science or relatedfield
  • Strong scientific publication record forResearch Scientist position
  • Excellentprogramming skills and experience in large systemdevelopment
  • Ability to work independently andwith a large team
  • Excellent analytical,technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strongverbal and written communicationskills
  • Previous experience with modeling andsimulation, data science and/or machine learning, parallel anddistributed computing, or hardware accelerators will beadvantageous
