Roles & Responsibilities

Job purpose:

The individual would be part of a wider team that will need to ensure the applicable Global Compliance Standards and Singapore's laws and regulatory requirements relating to AML/CFT, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Fraud and Anti-Tax Evasion Facilitation, are duly and effectively implemented in the business. The individual will be required to work closely with the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team and business in identifying FCC risks and fostering a culture of compliance within the bank.

The individual would also support the Head of Compliance on regulatory projects and the project management, oversight and implementation of compliance program in Singapore branch.

Key activities:

  1. Review and provide inputs on high-risk customers from Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) perspective.
  2. Review alerts generated from customer and transaction screening systems.
  3. Provide subject matter expertise to business stakeholders on FCC topics.
  4. Provide guidance on FCC related policies and procedures.
  5. Provide training on local addendum and relevant changes of local FCC requirements.
  6. Perform compliance review on FCC related tasks (e.g. KYC, EDD, KYE, etc.).
  7. Liaise with Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) on account opening process.
  8. Assist with FCC-related projects and enhancements.
  9. Analyze transaction monitoring alerts and investigating transactional activities to detect any suspicions of money laundering or terrorist financing activity.
  10. Assist in investigations into suspicious transactions.
  11. Present facts from investigations relating to Suspicious Transaction Report (STRs) to Senior Management and Compliance.
  12. Respond to Request For Information (RFI) received from internal or external parties.
  13. Coordinate searches and enquiries; gather data and information from business and compliance departments.
  14. Assist to monitor and document activities on high-risk accounts and Enhanced Due Diligence.
  15. Remediation of any findings issued by regulators or auditors as needed.
  16. Provide FCC related input into the design of new business, products, services or delivery channels.
  17. Assist in managing regulatory projects and drive through regulatory and compliance-related risk initiatives
  18. Supporting the management of regulatory interactions, ensuring timely communication and submission of required reports
  19. Any other tasks as assigned.

Formal education:

Bachelor Degree in Legal, Accountancy or Business related discipline

Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification):

  • At least 3 to 4 years of FCC-related working experience in Singapore
  • Good exposure to AML/CFT and Sanctions compliance laws and regulations in Singapore
  • Good experience working with system alerts generated on customer and transaction monitoring and screening systems.
  • Meticulous, analytical and pragmatic problems solving skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communicative skills.
  • Fluent verbal and written English required.
  • Experience in regulatory oversight and governance activities will be added advantage
