Customs Brokerage Coordinator-Jurong Pier-5 Open Role

Purpose of the position

As a Customs Brokerage Coordinator, your primary role will be to ensure smooth customs clearance and compliance with trade regulations while supporting the logistics operations. You will manage the coordination between customs authorities, freight forwarders, and internal teams, ensuring adherence to all legal requirements. Additionally, you will assist in implementing warehouse management systems and developing standard operating procedures, all while maintaining high standards of accuracy and communication in a dynamic work environment.

Key Tasks

Customs Brokerage & Trade Compliance:


•Manage the customs clearance process for both imports and exports, ensuring full compliance with relevant customs regulations and trade laws.


•Keep up to date with changes in customs regulations, tariff schedules, and trade agreements to mitigate risks.


•Act as a liaison with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to resolve customs-related issues efficiently.

Warehouse Management System (WMS) Implementation and Training:


•Support the implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to optimize inventory control and logistics operations.


•Conduct training sessions to educate team members on WMS functionalities and best practices.


•Support any necessary modifications to WMS to meet operational needs.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Development:


•Create and document SOPs for all contract logistics processes including inbound/outbound logistics, inventory management, and quality control.


•Ensure that SOPs are effectively communicated and consistently followed across the organization.

Freight Forwarding Coordination:


•Coordinate freight forwarding activities for contract logistics clients, including transportation planning, carrier selection, and shipment tracking.


•Serve as the main point of contact for client inquiries and issues related to freight forwarding.

Ad Hoc Tasks:


•Undertake additional tasks or projects as assigned by superiors, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting logistics operations.

Decision Making Authority


•As directed by direct line Customs Brokerage Analyst

•Comprehensive understanding of customs brokerage processes, industry trends, and logistics operations, with the ability to make informed decisions that enhance efficiency, ensure compliance, and support the company's goals.

Skills & Competencies


•Customs Brokerage Expertise: Strong knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance, and brokerage processes. (Must processed Declaring Agent Cert – SC401)


•Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in handling documentation and compliance requirements.


•Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, with internal teams and external partners.


•Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and implement solutions effectively.


•Multitasking & Prioritization: Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.


•WMS Proficiency: Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) implementation, training, and troubleshooting.


•Vendor Management: Skilled in managing vendor relationships and ensuring service quality.


•Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and requirements in logistics operations.

Educational background / Work experience


•Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, with experience in customs brokerage and trade compliance preferred.
