
Assistant Manager, Animal Behaviour

Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore's Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.
To assist the Manager in the operational activities, systems and procedures to improve the operating
quality and efficiency of the assigned show production and venue facilities. Implement all departmental
policies, duties, requirements and achieve key performance indicators. Assist in supervising and coach
staff in accordance with company policies and procedures in achieving the key performance indicators
and quality of the show production and venue facilities.
Main Responsibilities and Requirements
1. Assist the Manager in overseeing general administration, daily operations, and fiscal activities,
including staffing, budgeting, and production planning.
2. Support the development and implementation of departmental systems and procedures to ensure
operational efficiency.
3. Contribute to budget planning and monitor expenditures related to show development, animal
training, and facility maintenance.
4. Participate in the daily care and maintenance of animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures,
monitoring health, and providing enrichment to support physical and psychological well-being.
5. Monitor animal behavior closely to identify potential welfare concerns and report issues promptly to
the Manager and veterinary team.
6. Assist in managing the overall care and maintenance of the department's animal collection, ensuring
high standards of welfare and husbandry.
7. Maintain strict adherence to all animal welfare regulations, safety protocols, and facility standards.
8. Conduct regular safety inspections of animal areas and ensure all documentation is accurate and up
to date.
9. Address safety concerns swiftly and implement corrective actions as needed.
10. Assist in planning and coordinating animal show schedules, including rehearsals, show-day logistics,
and backstage operations.
11. Support the execution of animal-related programs, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to
safety procedures.
12. Supervise programme presenters and handlers during show operations, ensuring consistency,
professionalism, and guest engagement.
13. Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall visitor experience through integrated
programming and guest services.
14. Delegate and assign responsibilities to departmental staff, ensuring clarity of roles and accountability.
15. Provide input on staffing decisions including hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and performance
evaluations.
16. Authorize staff leave and overtime, and review performance reports prepared by subordinates.
17. Support staff development through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
18. Undertake research and recommend new program concepts aligned with departmental goals and
audience engagement strategies.
19. Assist in the planning, development, and supervision of all animal-related initiatives and long-term
departmental projects.
20. Other duties assigned by HOD.
Requirements
1. Diploma or Degree (Mass Communication / Life Sciences / Media Studies)
2. At least 3 years of animal care, training, and/or show management experience.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong Project Management Skills. Good organisational skills, able to work independently,
multi-task in a fast environment.
5. Must be able to lift heavy objects.
