Full-time Primary School Monitor/Teacher's Assistant

The Monitor plays a crucial role in providing both logistical, technical and educational assistance across various age groups in the primary school setting. This involves addressing children's hygiene, basic needs, and educational support. The Monitor is instrumental in supporting the
delivery of quality education by maintaining classroom organization, offering emotional support, facilitating communication between teachers and parents, and adhering to the school's policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and Support Across Ages: Provide supervision and assistance during recess, meals, activities, nap time, excursions, arrival, and school departure for all primary school age groups.
Offer age-appropriate guidance in dressing, undressing, and personal hygiene, with an emphasis on fostering independence and autonomy. This includes adapting support strategies to suit the varying needs and maturity levels of children from early primary to upper primary years.
2. Mealtime Preparation and Assistance: Prepare and organize school lunch for diverse age groups, ensuring food is appropriately portioned and assist younger children with feeding to ensure proper nutrition.
3. Uphold Hygiene and Safety: Enforce personal hygiene and safety rules across all school environments (classrooms, stairs, corridors, playgrounds). This includes assistance in toileting and handwashing where necessary, and maintaining cleanliness and order of school equipment.
4. Classroom Management and Activity Supervision: Work closely with teachers to maintain classroom organization and manage rest times. Prepare and supervise recreational activities, and organize student work.
5. Preventative Measures for Safety: Implement strategies to minimize accidents in various school settings, adapting methods to suit different age groups.
6. Positive Reinforcement and Behavior Management: Encourage and reinforce positive attitudes and behavior in children, adapting strategies to suit different developmental stages.
7. Communication: Serve as a liaison between parents and teachers for inquiries regarding education, welfare, and social-emotional development, directing parents to teachers for specific concerns.
8. Professional Development: Commit to continuous professional development. Actively participate in meetings and training sessions as scheduled by the School Director. Stay updated with the latest educational practices.
9. Policy Implementation and Adherence: Understand and implement school policies and procedures, including LPE code of conduct and dress standards.
10. Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other duties as assigned by the School Principal.
Required Qualifications:
– Experience with children; international experience is highly regarded.
– Excellent written and spoken English and French language skills (bilingual) preferred.
