POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to support our procurement activities in the marine logistics industry. In this crucial role, you will work closely with the Procurement Manager, vessel crew, and suppliers to ensure the efficient and cost-effective procurement of equipment, services, and supplies for our fleet, all while adhering to company policies and industry regulations.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Procurement Manager in daily procurement operations, handling ad-hoc tasks as needed.
  • Develop comprehensive plans for acquiring equipment, services, and supplies, considering cost, quality, availability, and lead times.
  • Review and refine existing administrative procedures and systems to identify opportunities for streamlining and enhancing procurement efficiency.
  • Ensure all procurement activities align with organizational purchasing guidelines, procedures, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Monitor costs and expenses associated with procurement to assist in preparing accurate budgets.
  • Coordinate timely and cost-effective shipments of stores and spares via air, sea, and road freight to both local and international ports.
  • Conduct occasional inventory and storeroom inspections on ships to assess crew needs, foster positive relationships, and resolve procurement-related issues.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in shipping operations or a similar role; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of technical shipping management is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Ship Procurement Systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Independent, resourceful, proactive, and a strong team player.
  • A sense of ownership and urgency in completing tasks.
