About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Back Office Team Leader to oversee and manage our Trade Finance, Settlement, Transaction Administration teams, along with other key operational functions.. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations, compliance, and efficiency in back-office processes, while providing strategic leadership and fostering a culture of excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of the Trade Finance, Settlement, and Transaction Administration teams, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and manage the preparation, review, and execution of loan documentation, including credit agreements, disbursements, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor and ensure timely processing of import/export transactions, letters of credit, guarantees, and money market transactions.
  • Maintain and review international settlement processes, and trade finance documentation.
  • Conduct periodic audits of loan and transaction files, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve operational efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance overall performance.
  • Provide strategic guidance on product development, rate revisions, and customer marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee the dispatch and reconciliation of SWIFT messages, nostro accounts, and local settlement processes.
  • Mentor, train, and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align back-office operations with organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, banking, finance, international trade, or a related field; advanced degrees are an advantage.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in trade finance, transaction administration, or settlement operations within the banking industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of trade finance instruments, international settlement systems, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of local laws on foreign exchange control, investment, and AML requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage teams effectively and drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and implementing back-office systems and processes.
  • Expertise in customer service and relationship management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve operational challenges efficiently.
