Configuration Planner

Roles & Responsibilities

The Configuration Planner will be an individual contributor responsible for developing and maintaining planning bills of materials (BOMs), particularly percentage-based planning BOMs, to support Ichor Systems' Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes. Working closely with the SIOP Manager, this role will ensure that production requirements are accurately captured and aligned with demand forecasts, enabling efficient and cost-effective manufacturing outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Planning BOM Creation & Maintenance

1. Develop and maintain percentage-based planning bills of materials (BOMs) in collaboration with engineering, procurement, and production teams.
2. Ensure BOM accuracy and adherence to product configurations specific to the semiconductor capital equipment industry.
3. Continuously update BOMs in the ERP system to reflect engineering changes, new product introductions, and market demands.

• Data Analysis & Forecast Support

1. Assist the SIOP Manager with data-driven insights for monthly and quarterly SIOP cycles.
2. Analyze demand forecasts in relation to BOM structures, identifying gaps or inconsistencies.
3. Provide regular updates on material requirements and usage trends to support cost optimization.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration

1. Work closely with engineering to interpret product design requirements and translate them into accurate BOM configurations.
2. Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to address material availability, lead times, and cost considerations.
3. Partner with production planning and manufacturing to ensure alignment between the master production schedule and planning BOM structures.

• Continuous Improvement

1. Identify opportunities to streamline and improve BOM management processes, leveraging best practices in semiconductor manufacturing.
2. Recommend system enhancements or process changes to increase BOM accuracy and reduce cycle times.
3. Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall SIOP efficiency and effectiveness.

• Reporting & Documentation

1. Maintain comprehensive documentation on BOM structures, changes, and updates.
2. Generate regular reports on BOM accuracy, material usage, and potential resource constraints.
3. Present findings and recommendations to the SIOP Manager and other stakeholders as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning, BOM configuration, or a related supply chain role.
• Experience in the semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis tools.
• Understanding of percentage-based BOM structures and SIOP processes.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
