Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Mould Design Engineer plays a vital role in our manufacturing industry by designing moulds and tooling systems essential for machining parts and products and collaborating closely with the various engineering teams, suppliers and customers to create efficient and reliable moulds that meet specific production requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new moulds for plastic injection moulded parts, working from engineering drawings and specifications
• Generate 3D solid models of mould designs using CAD software
• Create 2D detailed drawings of mould components for fabrication and assembly
• Select appropriate mould construction materials based on factors such as thermal expansion, corrosion resistance, and cost
• Work with suppliers to procure mould components in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Assemble and install moulds at the Company’s manufacturing facility or at the customer’s site
• Conduct mould trials to ensure that the design functions as intended and produces parts that meet quality standards
• Make modifications to mould designs based on feedback from mould trials
• Prepare technical reports documenting mould designs and test results
• Train other engineers and technicians on mould design and fabrication techniques
• Stay up-to-date on advances in mould design and manufacturing technology
• Contribute to the formulation of corporate manufacturing strategies, providing input on technology adoption and capital investments related to mould design and tooling.
• Coordinate and liaise the mould design with mould maker/customer and operations for DFM , changes and costs.

OTHER SKILL / TRAINING / QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering background, including preparing and reviewing mechanical drawings.
• Language Skills: Good command of English and Chinese. Ability to communicate in Korean and/or Vietnamese is a bonus.
• Commitment: To work in China for 3 months and subsequently in Hanoi, Vietnam. Able to travel from time to time.
• Strategic Design Leadership: Provide strategic direction for mould and tooling design projects, aligning them with the Company’s broader goals and objectives
