The Operations Finance Team is the core finance business partners for Dyson's Global Manufacturing Operations functions. The team work with these functions to assist them in delivering key operation objectives. These include among other things, the exploration of growth initiatives, financial planning and analysis of day to day operation activities and providing solutions to operational issues as and when they occur. The team's goal is to develop and maintain a flexible and collaborative working relationship with the stakeholders to achieve all common objectives of the Operation Function.

The Lead Finance Analyst for Ops Finance provides finance support to the Commercial and Operations functions of Dyson's Supply Chain. The incumbent will work cross functionally with the business stakeholders to provide financial analytically support involving the Contract Manufacturers to minimise Dyson risks and optimise the total product cost of sales for Dyson. The incumbent's will use his/her financial knowledge and commercial acumen to formulate clear analysis for senior management team in Dyson for key decision-making.

From time to time, the incumbent will also work on ad hoc analysis together with the Operations and Commercial functions on new initiatives for Dyson. This will include but not limited to exploration of new operations locations, new contractors, new operating business model for existing or new product categories etc.

The role is highly visible in the Dyson Ops organisation and allows the incumbent a great opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of Dyson Operations.

The role will be located at STC and reports into the Head of Finance – Operations.

Job Description
  • Business Partner with Commercial to provide finance support involving the Contract Manufacturer
  • Conduct periodic financial risk assessments of Contract Manufacturers (CMs)
  • Support the finished goods bid process with financial analysis in close conjunction with Commercial team to assist in planning negotiations with CMs
  • Follow up and put in strong governance from RFQ/TAS to actual billing
  • Run analysis on non-material cost of sales including moulding, manufacturing lean activity, contribution, labour costs, paint processing etc to support decision making
  • Manage and validate the VAM claims as well as forecast and reporting
  • Prepare analysis on an ad hoc basis to support commercial / strategic initiatives involving CMs
  • Review of key processes to drive process improvements

Skills

  • Full/Part Qualified Accountant or equivalent post graduate qualification with experience in manufacturing or engineering industry.
  • At least 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience, including trainee or audit experience
  • Experience in rigorous financial analysis and comfortable with large database
  • Excellent analytical ability and Excel spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to understand concepts and ideas quickly and model data in meaningful ways
  • Naturally Inquisitive - comfortable and willing to interrogate existing systems with large amounts of data for answers but accepts that not every query has an exact answer
  • Proactive in proposing ideas to challenge status quo
  • Experience in working across functions and cultures and dealing with overseas entities
  • Excellent personal and business presentation skills, in particular the presentation of financial information to non-finance managers and directors
  • Assertive and able to influence upwards and peers
  • Good spoken & written English and Chinese
  • Has strong sense of operational discipline and ability to meet deadlines
  • Tableau, Power BI experience a plus
