As a wholly-owned subsidiary ofNTU and a key innovation driver under NTU I&E, NTUitiveoversees the cultivation of startups and spin-offs, as well as therelated investments. The Deputy Director (I&E EcosystemDevelopment) is a position at NTUitive and it plays a critical rolein advancing NTU's mission to foster a vibrant innovation andentrepreneurship ecosystem both within the university and acrossSingapore. This position is pivotal in driving strategicinitiatives that support deep tech venture creation andentrepreneurship. The incumbent will lead the development,management, and operations of key initiatives aimed at cultivatingdeep tech talent and startups, while also building relationshipswith internal and external stakeholders. A key responsibility isoverseeing a new national graduate innovation programme designed tocreate deep tech spinoffs from NTU and other institutions inSingapore.

Programme Design andImplementation
  • Develop and launch thegraduate innovation programme structure, including curriculum,workshops, and mentoring sessions.
  • Collaboratewith academic departments, industry experts, and venturecapitalists to support entrepreneurialtraining.


StakeholderManagement
  • Engage with internalstakeholders (e.g., faculty, researchers) to identify potentialdeep tech projects with commercialisationpotential.
  • Build and maintain partnerships withexternal stakeholders, including industry leaders, governmentagencies, investors, andstartups.


Recruitment andTalent Development
  • Attract and selectpromising graduate students and researchers for participation inthe programme.
  • Provide mentoring, resources,and networking opportunities to help participants develop theirdeep techinnovations.


VentureCreation Support
  • Facilitate access toincubation facilities, seed funding, and business developmentresources for participants.
  • Guide teams throughthe process of market validation, IP protection, and early-stagebusinessdevelopment.


Monitoringand Reporting:
  • Track programmeprogress and outcomes, such as the number of start-ups created,funding raised, or partnerships formed.
  • Prepareregular reports for university leadership and externalstakeholders, outlining key achievements and futureopportunities.


CommunityEngagement and Outreach
  • Establish andmanage the networks that will enable programme participants tosuccessfully identify, integrate, translate or assimilate know-howand technology into scable deep techventures.
  • Deepen relations and alignstakeholders' interests to ensure continuity of activities (e.g.downstream fundraising, incubation and venture buildingsupport)


Marketing andCommunications
  • Develop engagingstories and publicity materials to showcase the achievements of theprogramme and initiatives in supporting innovation andentrepreneurship.


Build aVibrant and Resource RichEcosystem
  • Establish, manage thenetworks and provide resources that will complement theentrepreneurs, to successfully translate, integrate or assimilateknow-how or technology into scalablebusinesses.
  • Leverage networking opportunitiesto expand and build the community of local professionals to bebusiness and technical mentors in ournetwork.
  • Deepen relationships and alignstakeholders' interests in I&E to ensure continuity ofactivities. (e.g. downstream fundraising, incubation and venturebuilding support)


Anyother ad-hoc initiatives and projects undertaken by theOffice.

Requirements:
  • ABachelor's/Master's in the science or engineering discipline. Ph.D.and/or MBA would be consideredfavourably.
  • Proficient in building, developingand managing a multi-faceted innovation and entrepreneurialecosystem that fosters mutually beneficial relationships andsustainable growth for all stakeholdersinvolved.
  • Current knowledge of entrepreneurialtrends, both locally and globally.
  • Soundknowledge of company laws and regulations in Singapore will be aplus.
  • Good understanding of IP and technologycommercialisation process especially how to build a business froman idea or early-stage technology.
  • Proven trackrecord in programme management, including planning, budgeting,resource allocation, evaluation andreporting.
  • Prior experience in cultivatingstartups and built innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem thatoperated locally or globally.
  • At least 15 yearsof experience in a similar capacity and with demonstratedcapability in team management.
  • Prior experiencein identifying and managing aspiringentrepreneurs.
  • Ability to implement and leadwith a clear strategic vision.
  • Excellentnetworking and relationship managementskills.
  • Proficient in project management,including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, evaluation andreporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Officeapplications, especially OneDrive, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePointand PowerPoint.
  • Resilient and adaptable,excelling in dynamic and face-paced environment requiringmulti-tasking capabilities.
  • Excellentcommunication and interpersonalskills.
  • Nurturing leader, people manager withstrong organisationalcapabilities.
