Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver academic lessons to assigned classes
  • Deliver Character and Citizenship lessons to assigned classes
  • Supervise students' progress of learning during Enrichment Activities
  • Monitor students' attendance and following up with their reasons for absence
  • Mark daily assignments and prepare feedback to be given to students.
  • Set up resources (eg. IT Lab, Sci Lab,) to conduct the day's lessons
  • Set examination papers
  • Mark examination scripts
  • Perform relief duties when contingencies arise
  • Attend professional development workshops / retreats / meetings discussions that will increase their teaching competencies
  • Engage with Correctional Unit Officers in-charge of their students for better socio -emotional and behavioural management of students
  • Engage with next-of-kins during Parents-Teachers-Officers-Meetings
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal/Vice-Principal/Head Studies of School that require the physical presence of an educational personnel for supervision of students and their learning activities.
  • The education personnel may be required to perform any combinations of the following
  • Invigilate Mid-Year Examinations, Preliminary Examinations and GE and GCE examinations
  • Process students' requests that are related to their learning needs (eg. book requests)
  • Pre-preparation of learning venues with required resources and post-lesson maintenance
  • Assist in supervision of learners with special needs or learning activities in specialised rooms (eg. Science Laboratory, IT Lab) upkeep student records through filing and / or digital storage
  • Collate student documentations for examination registration
  • Carry out stock take of teaching resources for upkeep and renewal
  • Prepare reports for students who are undergoing review or adjudication
  • Process testimonials for students who are released from School
  • Process students' examination results and progress reports
  • Carry out post-examination activities such as workshops
  • Perform computer laboratory supervision duties for tertiary or GCE levels
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal/Vice Principal/Head Studies of School that are administrative in nature to support school functions

Requirements

  • Must be a Singaporean or Permanent Resident
  • Possesses a degree in the teaching subject; and / or is a degree holder in a related field
  • Possesses at least 3 years of relevant teaching experience at Secondary and / or Post Secondary levels.
  • Possesses good track record for students' results in key national examinations at GCE levels or equivalent.
  • Has teaching experience in correctional facilities or working with at-risk students is competent in differentiated teaching for students who are diverse in age and abilities
  • Able to manage learning activities for a class size of between 20 and 30 students
  • Able to work closely with uniformed and non-uniformed staff
  • Able to conform to rules and restrictions e.g. standard security checks and screenings, safekeeping/depositing personal belongings such as handphones, wallets,handbags, etc. in lockers before entering into premises.

Working timing

08.30 to 16.55hrs from Mondays to Fridays.

Administrative duties daily for up to 3 hours on Mondays to Fridays:

Location Details

Based on the subject mastery of each education personnel, he/she is required to teach at Tanah Merah Centre and few other locations.
