Roles & Responsibilities

Overall Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Broker to join our Treaty & Retrocession team.

This is a client-facing role in a team environment that involves the placement and servicing of existing accounts and other accounts identified by the line manager, as well as new business production for treaty reinsurance.

The role includes conducting market research and market segmentation to identify ideal segments for pursuit. Identify business opportunities and participate in tender proposals. Build relationships through understanding and determining client needs, making excellent sales calls and presentations offering business solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client & Market Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with cedents, reinsurers, and other stakeholders in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and the Indo-China region.
    Understand client needs and provide tailored reinsurance solutions through treaty and retrocession programmes.
    Identify and capitalise on business development opportunities within assigned territories.
  • Reinsurance Broking & Placement: Structure, negotiate, and place treaty and retrocession programmes with global and regional reinsurers.
    Liaise with reinsurers to ensure competitive terms, pricing, and capacity for clients.
    Work closely with the analytics and technical teams to optimise reinsurance structures.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure all transactions adhere to MAS Guidelines on Fit & Proper Criteria (MAS 502) and company compliance standards.
    Stay updated on regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions, particularly Singapore, Malaysia, and Indo-China.
  • Internal & External Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting, claims, finance, and legal, to support end-to-end reinsurance transactions.
    Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Treaty & Retrocession reinsurance broking, underwriting (client management), or related functions.
  • Strong territorial expertise in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and Indo-China.
  • Fit & Proper under MAS 502 guidelines.
  • Proven ability to structure and negotiate complex treaty and retrocession programmes.
  • Established relationships with cedents and reinsurers in the region.
  • Strong knowledge of reinsurance contract wordings, pricing, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications such as ACII, ANZIIF (Senior Associate), or equivalent.
  • Experience with reinsurance analytics and catastrophe modelling tools.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages (e.g., Mandarin, Bahasa, Khmer) is a plus but not mandatory.
