Cogent owns one of Singapore's largest one-stop integrated logistics hub, Cogent 1.Logistics Hub. It offers warehousing, freight forwarding, container and ISO tank depot, automotive logistics, and transportation services in Singapore. It also operates warehousing and container depot businesses in Malaysia.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Operation Manager (Container Depot) in Cogent Container Depot Pte Ltd. As an Assistant Operation Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the container depot. Your tasks will include managing container handling and storage, coordinating with customers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines, optimizing depot operations, and leading a team of depot personnel.

  1. (General) Through the reporting data and actual operation, responsible for establishing and improving the Depot’s operation procedures to enhance work productivity, optimization of resources, cost savings, fulfillment of customers’ contractual KPI, attain customer service excellence, etc. The optimization of resources in correspondence with actual operation volume.
  2. (General) Responsible for analyzing key operational items within the KPI report and working with the stakeholders to ensure appropriate action is taken for improvement or mitigation (for gaps closure).
  3. (Operation) Responsible for monitoring key operational KPIs per Customer and Depot requirements (such as M&R performance, yard traffic, etc) and taking corresponding actions to prevent and mitigate foreseeable issues.
  4. (Operation and Safety) Identify safety hazards in the operation process and areas to proactively eliminate any safety risks and hazards through regular safety inspection and other methods including toolbox meetings, etc. Cooperate with the Safety Team on the incident investigation under Depot and work on the recommended corrective and preventive action. Integrate safety culture and mindset into daily work activities of the Depot’s organizational structure.
  5. (Customer) Responsible for attending to and answering operational-related queries from Customers and providing proposals/feedback towards Customer’s requirements and feedback.
  6. (Administrative) Responsible for providing relevant briefing to personnel before the start of the business such as operation requirements, container stacking, etc.
  7. (Operation and Safety) Responsible for incident reporting for Operation related matters within the OA system.
  8. (Operation and Safety) To be the main coordinator and liaison for any incident recovery within the Depot.
  9. (System) Responsible for ensuring proper usage of the Depot Management System through regular training and briefing towards the team and subcontractor, ensuring accurate data is inputted promptly, and working with IT for its continuous improvement.
  10. (Human Resource) Responsible for setting up and maintaining an effective organizational structure governing the overall Depot’s operation and ensuring relevant training is provided to any Operation personnel.
  11. (Human Resource) Responsible for setting up the KPI, providing feedback on performance, and guidance for each Operation personnel in meeting the requirement and scope of work. Responsible for conducting fair and constructive performance appraisals.
  12. (Equipment) Responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of each piece of equipment under Depot and ensuring that it is safe to operate.
  13. (Compliance) To ensure that relevant procedures, daily operations, and operation systems remain effective, efficient, and compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and the Group’s policies, procedures, rules, and measures.
  14. (Compliance) Responsible for managing, educating, and ensuring employees under Depot are compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and the Group’s policies, procedures, rules, and measures.
  15. (Vendor) Responsible for monitoring vendor performance and ensuring the necessary output to match Customer requirements and operation needs.
  16. (Cost) Responsible for ensuring that operational cost is optimally utilized and seeking continuous improvement.
  17. (Administrative) Responsible as custodian of the operational petty cash, ensuring proper usage based on Company policies, and managing the documentation process for submission.
  18. (Other / Projects) Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.


Requirement

  1. Diploma qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  2. Strong knowledge and experience in container depot operations
  3. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  4. Effective communication and leadership abilities
  5. Committed, hardworking and self-disciplined
  6. Responsible individual who is diplomatic and possesses a high level of initiative, and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  7. Minimum 4 years in container depot operations
