Imperial Global Singapore(IGS) is looking to hirea Finance and BusinessManager to manage the finance function andsupport the HR functions of the of the new research hub.

IGS is Imperial CollegeLondon’s formal legal entity in Singapore to undertake research andinnovation projects in collaboration with universities, industry,government, and third-sector partners from across the Singaporeresearch and innovation ecosystem.

Hosted at theSingapore National Research Foundation’sCampus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise(CREATE) and located at the National University ofSingapore UTown Campus, IGS provides the physical andadministrative infrastructure to extend Imperial’s research andinnovation activities to Singapore and broader South East Asia.CREATE also hosts interdisciplinary research centres from topglobal universities.

The Finance and BusinessManager works as part of the IGS administrative team to manage thefinance function and support the HR functions of the hub. The postholder has operational responsibility for all day-to- day financefunction of the centre, including processing purchases, expensesand payroll; maintaining the finance system; monitoring projectexpenditure and budgets; The role holder will also support the HRfunction of IGS. The postholder will liaise regularly with IGS andImperial staff, as well as external sponsors, suppliers, auditors,and inputting into the management of IGS via budgeting andreporting.

As the company is expected to grow,it is anticipated that this post holder would have scope to build ateam to support their responsibilities.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES

Centre Finance Function(75%)

  • Accountable forfinance function including financial and managementaccounting.
  • Responsibility for AccountsPayable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and banking/cashmanagement.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents,corporate secretary, and government departments.
  • Be responsible for the preparation of the company’sfinancial and management reports, including grant reporting forpublic grant at both corporate and project level.
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Maintaining a strong financial controlenvironment
  • Liaise with auditors on year-endaudit, including preparation of audit schedules and statutoryfinancial statements.
  • Assist in new processesand system implementation when required.

HR Support (20%)

  • Be a friendly, efficient first point-of-callfor researchers and other staff members working on the programmefor enquiries on HR and other administrative matters;
  • Administer recruitment, appointment, on-onboarding,probation, appraisal and leaver processes;
  • Supporting the administration of HR system and Assiststaff with general HR processes, such as booking leave, sicknessmanagement, visa matters, organising appraisal schedules andutilizing the benefits package;
    Ensure up-to-daterecords are kept of all necessary staff information, that arecompliant with local employment laws and regulations;
  • Assist with ensuring the Employee Handbook is alwaysup-to-date and that other information needed is easily availablevia staff intranet & elsewhere;

Other Duties (5%)

  • Regularly review & develop centre researchand financial support structures, procedures, and policies toensure an efficient and effective service.
  • Contribution to broader performance and deliveryreporting to external parties.
  • Contribute toany business development initiatives as required.
  • A commitment to the development and implementation ofprocess improvements where identified
    Undertake anynecessary training and/or development.
  • Attendrelevant meetings.
  • Be a proactive member ofour small, friendly administrative team and take pride in providingan excellent support service to our researchers andscientists.
