She is trained to conduct psycho-educational assessments and implement evidence-based interventions to support students with needs, including Specific Learning Disorder (Reading / Written Expression), Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and so on.Having obtained a Certificate in Autism by Autism Resource Centre and prior teaching experience in an Autism-focused SPED school, Samantha has the relevant knowledge and expertise in managing children with autism. She utilises Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the TEACCH approach to help students acquire independence in emerging skills and to develop new skills to better understand themselves and the world around them. She is also able to flexibly customise and implement evidence-based literacy programmes for students transitioning to primary schools.Given her familiarity of the SPED landscape in Singapore, Samantha is able to offer parents valuable insights into the school settings that would best meet their child’s needs. Samantha is a firm advocate of close collaboration between home, schools and therapeutic professionals to benefit the child’s development and would like to work closely with stakeholders to reinforce the child’s learning. Through her work, Samantha hopes to continue empowering children and families to cultivate resilience, build self-confidence, and strengthen healthy relationships.SpecialtyEducational PsychologistDegreesMA in Applied Psychology (Educational Psychology) from National Institute of Education, SingaporeBachelor of Psychological Science (Hons) from University of Queensland, Australia
