about the company

Our client, the world’s largest geotechnical specialist contractor, is looking for a Design Manager/Director to be based in Singapore, looking after South East Asia’s (Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam) geotechnical engineering matters.


This Design Manager/Director needs to work closely with the Business Development Team to participate the tender and propose geotechnical solutions to address different clients’ needs. And also lead design works to ensure design standards and timeline. 5 days work/week with 21 days annual leave, our client pays performance bonuses annually.


about the job

  • Lead the works in accordance with site specific HSEQ Construction Methodologies, Risk Assessments, Site Rules and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Liaising closely with clients, consultants & authorities by using technical expertise to adopt / accept / approve the technical proposal for the projects.
  • Ensure the design process in compliance with current legislation, standards and codes of practice.
  • Ensure the design information is of the right quality and keep pace with project timeline.
  • Strive to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during the construction process.
  • Preparing detailed investigation report for any incidents related to technical issues.
  • Review with the Business Development team on project closing reports and develop future improvement plans / strategies to reduce risk(s).
  • Be involved in society work, including writing papers to seminars.
  • Propose Design &Build geotechnical solutions, including solutions for ground improvement where relevant.
  • Lead, develop and provide training to the team of Engineers.

skills & experience required

  • PEB-recognised bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or higher.
  • Min 10 years’ experience in a geotechnical design role in the construction industry.
  • Experience with PLAXIS will be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to other SEA countries.
