Job Summary:
The Logistics Manager will oversee and optimize the company's shipping and logistics operations, with a focus on managing and negotiating container rates with major shipping lines. This role requires extensive knowledge of international shipping, container logistics, and cost management to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in logistics within the trading or pulp and paper sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Shipping and Freight Management:
    • Negotiate competitive container rates and contracts with major shipping lines.
    • Manage freight forwarding agreements to ensure cost-efficiency and reliability.
    • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the movement of goods internationally.
    • Monitor shipping schedules and ensure timely deliveries to clients and partners.
  2. Cost Optimization and Budgeting:
    • Analyze and optimize transportation costs to achieve budget targets.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce shipping costs without compromising quality or timelines.
    • Track freight market trends to ensure competitive pricing.
  3. Vendor and Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, port authorities, and logistics service providers.
    • Ensure compliance with contract terms and service-level agreements.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for logistics-related queries and escalations.
  4. Operations and Compliance:
    • Ensure all shipments comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and environmental standards.
    • Monitor container tracking and resolve any discrepancies or delays.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve logistics efficiency and minimize risks.
  5. Team Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Work closely with procurement, sales, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations.
    • Prepare regular reports on shipping costs, delivery performance, and key metrics.
    • Provide input on logistics trends and innovations to enhance operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in logistics, with specific expertise in container rate negotiations and shipping line management.
  • Strong knowledge of the pulp and paper industry and global trade practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tools (e.g., SAP, ERP systems, and container tracking platforms).
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and international shipping regulations.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, forecast trends, and make strategic decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
