NewCurriculum - Interdisciplinary CollaborativeCore

NTU is reshaping itsundergraduate curriculum to emphasise interdisciplinary andcollaborative learning in the foundation years. Thisinterdisciplinary and collaborative curriculum, consisting of 7core courses, is designed to enhance students' cognitive agility,competence, and character beyond their chosen majors. These corecourses are mandatory across all NTU undergraduate programmes andwill be concentrated in the first two years of study, featuringmixed-class environments to foster multidisciplinary collaborationfrom the outset of students' university experience. Through diverseteam projects and assignments, students will engage in grouplearning that spans different disciplines.

Thecontent for these core courses is developed by faculty from a rangeof fields to offer multiple perspectives on key issues, aligningwith NTU's graduate attributes. Each course emphasises keytransferable skills and addresses global challenges. A flippedclassroom approach is used, allowing students to learn thematerials before class, thereby maximising in-class deep learning,collaborative discussions and groupactivities.

"Science and Technology forHumanity" (ST4H), one of the core courses, is inviting candidatesto contribute to NTU's Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC)curriculum. Required for all undergraduates, ST4H explores thesocial, economic, and political impacts of science and technology,encouraging students to address societal issues through aninterdisciplinary lens that integrates both STEM and non-STEMperspectives.

This role is pivotal to theInterdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC) Office's mission toimplement an interdisciplinary and collaborative curriculum aimedat cultivating future-ready graduates.

Keyresponsibilities include:
  • Facilitatingand conducting all teaching assignments, both face-to-face andvirtual delivery
  • Developing an instructionalplan (known as a course outline or syllabus) for the course(s) theyteach and ensuring that it meets universitystandards
  • Developing, designing, andcontinuously improving lesson plans and class activities,assignment tasks and rubrics to foster student learning, stimulateclass discussions, and ensure studentengagement
  • Supporting course administrationsuch as course evaluation, online course materials, attendancerecords, academic counselling on studentprogress
  • Conducting assessments, marking andgrade entries, feedback to students, student consultations,non-academic matters etc.
  • Developing coursematerials and learning resources for course delivery and supportstudents' learning
  • Providing regular course andstudent progress statistics for reporting and strategic decisionmaking
  • Taking on course co-coordinationresponsibility, and working with others in the course as a team toensure a positive and supportive learning and working environmentfor all-students, staff andfaculty
  • Demonstrating values and principles ofprofessional conduct in all endeavours
  • Anyother assignedduties


Candidates with thefollowing qualifications are encouraged toapply:
  • MA or PhD training across STEMand/or humanities and social sciencefields
  • Training relevant to one of the coursetopics (e.g., the future of work, Al and robotics, technology'srole in rebalancing power, transformations for health andwellbeing, life beyond humanity)
  • Teaching andmentoring experience and experience with team teaching ispreferred
  • Interest and/or proficiency intechnology-enhanced learning (e.g., developing online learningactivities and assessments, creating lectures to be streamedonline)
  • Ability to work in ateam
  • A demonstrated potential for scholarshipis an advantage
