Roles & Responsibilities

As a FAIR Senior Associate within the FAIR team, you will be part of a high impact team focused on delivering exceptional analytical reports. Reporting into the VP of FAIR Operations you will be responsible for leading the FAIR APAC team. Consisting of various associates, senior analysts, and analysts this team is responsible for the majority of report production and data extraction for the wider global FAIR team. This role also is the main client lead for our APAC clients, providing expert guidance and insight to some of the largest LPs in the region.

As a FAIR Senior Associate, you will have the ability to add value across multiple clients within the FAIR team, enabling you to gain a deep perspective and awareness of the wider industry. You will oversee FAIR APAC operations, ensuring staff are meeting various internal KPIs, reviewing custom FAIR reports, and providing feedback along with career advancement opportunities to staff. You will collaborate with the larger global FAIR team to make sure work is appropriately planned for, bottlenecks are addressed timely, and to identify areas where technical training is needed. Additionally, you will lead client engagement for FAIR across the APAC region through report delivery, client presentations, and new business development.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Read through various financial document to ensure key datapoints were extracted from financial statements, capital account statements, ILPA templates, and GP-provided schedules
  • Create detailed reports over management fees, partnership expenses, and carried interest for a variety of alternative investments with complex fee structures
  • Ensure consistent methodology around data extraction, fee recalculation, and report creation is applied
  • Identify inconsistencies or large variances and escalate them to more senior team members for resolution
  • Meticulously review reports created by junior staff for adherence to team methodology, proper calculations, formatting, and commentary
  • Consult with experienced team members in the US/UK when variances arise or when methodologies are unclear
  • Provide constructive feedback to FAIR team members over their reports
  • Review team work plans and progress trackers within Excel and Jira to identify bottlenecks, underperforming staff, and overperforming staff
  • Guide Associates in managing their respective group of Senior Analysts/ Analysts
  • Train new staff on the team’s methodologies for data extraction and fee recalculations
  • Create staffing and project plans that support the deadlines set by FAIR Client Managers
  • Collaborate across time zones with FAIR Senior Associates and VP of Operations to create career advancement opportunities to more junior staff
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients in the APAC region through responding to client email inquiries, conducting regular status calls, leading presentations, and coordinating report deliveries
  • Remain up to date on current outstanding items, project status, and deadlines through the maintenance of client-facing trackers in Microsoft Excel and internal trackers created in Jira
  • Breakdown and explain complex fund terms, especially those relating to carried interest and management fees
  • Created detailed presentation materials and present FAIR findings to clients on a quarterly basis
  • Respond to client email inquiries timely and effectively, looping in senior team members as needed
  • Propose and execute quarterly plans to ensure timely delivery of FAIR reports in a manner that meets or exceeds client expectations

What you’ll bring to us:

  • Experience in fund accounting, investment management, external audit, or similar role
  • Expertise in understanding financial statements including the notes to the financial statements, capital account statements, cash flow notices, ILPA templates, and other information regularly published by GPs
  • General understanding of limited partnership agreements, private equity fund structures, and associated fees
  • Detailed-orientated as it concerns applying consistent methodologies, analyzing data, and creating client-ready reports
  • Self-motivated to meet internal KPIs
  • General understanding of most Microsoft Excel functions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially as it applies to communicating with individuals within our global organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, MBA or other financial Master’s degree preferred
  • CA, CPA, CFA, ACCA, or other accounting/ finance certification(s) preferred
  • Experience in managing local teams
  • Ability delegate and motivate staff to meet internal KPIs
  • Prior experience in creating project and staffing plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in monitoring team progress through Excel and Jira (or similar ticketing software)
  • Desire to assist staff in achieving their professional goals through mentorship, 1:1 conversations, and professional training
  • Proficient in developing training resources for new employees and delivering successful onboarding sessions
  • Experience in training staff over technical finance/ accounting/ audit topics
  • Experience in client management/ service as a financial consultant, auditor, investment advisor, or other financial service field
  • Strong presentation skills including the creation of presentation materials in Microsoft PowerPoint and the ability to break down and explain complex topics to key stakeholders
  • Organized and methodical in managing both internal staff and external clients to meet project milestones in order to deliver reports on-time
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
