Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • Oversee and manage Legal Department
  • Ensure commercial activities are executed in accordance with the Company, contracts’ and projects’ procedures and protocols
  • Effective oversight and management of commercial and financial aspects of the Projects through procurement to final account
  • Develops procurement strategy in conjunction with supply chain services
  • Safeguard the overall financial and commercial interests of the Projects by prompting, managing and controlling commercial risk, income and expenditures
  • Render commercial and contractual advice to Projects’/ Contracts’ Team on potential contractual issues/ disputes including strategize and recommendation of measures for avoidance, mitigation defence and/or resolution of claims
  • Lead and/or render advice on negotiation and settlement of variations, extension of time, prolongation claims and final accounts with external stakeholders
  • Review and render advise on legal and contractual documentations such as Pre Bid/ JV Agreements/ MOUs/ NDAs, Tender Documents, Subcontract Agreement, Novation, Termination letters, Performance bonds, insurances, warranties etc
  • Lead and work with internal and external parties as Project / contract teams, Lawyers and /or Claims consultants for any contractual /legal matters
  • Continuous review to improve internal process/ protocols to achieve work efficiency including collaborating with internal / external stakeholders
  • Engage in cross departments’ collaboration an integration
  • Capability build the Department and Project teams in respect to contracts and project management

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Science or Law
  • At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role in construction industry and experience in a Main Contractor will be an added advantage
  • Familiar with contract/construction law, including tender requirements, contract conditions, methods of contracting and dispute resolutions mechanisms
