NIE invitesapplications for the Senior/Assistant Head, IN-Learning position atthe Centre for Innovation in Learning. The selected candidate willbe pivotal in driving technology-enabled pedagogicalinnovations in alignment with NIE's strategicthrusts.

Responsibilities

TheSenior/Assistant Head, IN-Learning, will report directly to theHead, IN-Learning. This management role is responsible fordeveloping and executing strategic initiatives that align withNIE2025's focus on innovation, digital transformation, andimpactful teaching and learning practices. Key responsibilitiesinclude:
  • Strategic Leadership: Leadstrategic planning and decision-making to support NIE's goals ofintegrating emerging technologies in teaching and learning. Provideleadership to ensure the centre's objectives are aligned withinstitutional goals of excellence in research, teaching, andcommunity engagement.
  • Faculty DevelopmentLeadership: Drive the design, implementation, and evaluation offaculty development programs that enhance the integration ofinnovative teaching practices and digital tools. Lead initiativesto build faculty capacity in leveraging emerging technologies anddata-driven teaching strategies as part of NIE's broader goal offostering future-readyeducators.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:Collaborate with academic groups, IT departments, and externalstakeholders to implement NIE-wide digital transformationstrategies, especially those related to innovative learningenvironments, as envisioned by NIE2025.
  • TeamLeadership and Development: Manage and mentor a team of experiencedmanagers and specialists. Oversee professional development effortsto build leadership capacity and nurture talent in the centre inalignment with future NIE strategicpriorities.
  • Pedagogical Innovations: Championinnovative e-pedagogies and drive the adoption of emergingtechnologies to enable personalised, data-driven learning andpractices. Lead efforts to enhance future-ready learningenvironments that leverage advanced learning analytics, AI, andother innovative tools.
  • Change Management:Partner with key institutional leaders to lead transitionstrategies for NIE initiatives, ensuring smooth implementation andadoption across NIE. Lead effective change management processesthat support digital transformation andinnovation.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure thatthe Centre for Innovation in Learning delivers high-quality serviceand support to the NIE community, balancing operationaleffectiveness with the strategic goals ofNIE2025.
  • Data-Driven Leadership: Utiliselearning analytics and data insights to inform strategy, monitorprogress, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives.Ensure evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement inall areas.
  • Resource Management: Oversee theallocation of ICT resources and manage budgets, aligning them withthe centre's strategic objectives and NIE2025's long-termvision.


Requirements
  • AMaster's degree in Instructional Design, Education (LearningSciences & Technology), or related fields. A Doctoral degreewould be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years ofexperience in leadership roles in instructional design oreducational technology. Experience in leading teams and projects intechnology-enabled learning environments and strong skills inmentoring and developing leadershippotential.
  • Demonstrated ability to leadinnovation in technology-enabled teaching and learning and alignthese initiatives with institutional strategies like NIE2025 andproven track record in strategic planning, project management, andchange leadership.
  • Expertise in emerginglearning technologies, such as AI, adaptive learning systems, andlearning analytics, and the ability to implement them to achieveNIE's vision and mission.
  • Ability to workcollaboratively across departments, external stakeholders, andindustry partners. Excellent communication, leadership, andpresentation skills to engage and inspireteams.
  • Proficiency in learning analytics,instructional design methodologies, and tools that align withIN-Learning's focus on evidence-based, data-driven teaching andlearning.
  • A forward-looking leader committed tolifelong learning, both for themselves and their teams andfostering a culture of continuousimprovement.
