Job Summary:

We are seeking an AI Technical and Research Director to lead and manage cutting-edge research and development projects in artificial intelligence. This position requires a deep understanding of AI technologies, advanced machine learning, and data science, as well as the ability to lead a team of researchers and engineers. The AI Technical and Research Director will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of AI research, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and fostering a culture of innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of AI researchers, data scientists, engineers, and technical staff.
    • Define and drive the strategic vision for AI research and its application in solving business challenges.
    • Oversee the integration of AI technologies into various products, services, and solutions across the organization.
    • Develop and implement AI-related policies, best practices, and processes.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure AI research aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Research & Development:
    • Direct the design, development, and execution of AI and machine learning research initiatives.
    • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, etc., and guide the team accordingly.
    • Contribute to and oversee the publication of high-impact research papers and patents.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to turn theoretical AI concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration & Partnerships:
    • Work closely with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Product, Marketing, Operations) to ensure AI solutions are integrated effectively and efficiently.
    • Build and maintain relationships with academic institutions, industry partners, and external research organizations.
    • Identify and leverage opportunities for collaboration with external thought leaders, research groups, and startups to foster innovation.
  • Technical Leadership & Innovation:
    • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to the AI research team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
    • Drive technical excellence through the adoption of state-of-the-art AI tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
    • Evaluate new AI technologies and techniques, assessing their potential for application in the business context.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure that AI research and development efforts are delivered on time and within scope.
    • Ensure AI research projects are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business goals.
    • Implement quality assurance processes for AI solutions and research outcomes.
  • Thought Leadership:
    • Represent the organization in AI conferences, workshops, and industry events.
    • Promote the company's AI research achievements, making contributions to the broader AI community.
    • Be a visionary and advocate for AI innovation within the company and externally.

Qualifications:

  • Singaporean & Singapore PR are welcome to apply.
  • Education:
    • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced certifications or specializations in AI/ML are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership or director-level position.
    • Proven track record of leading and managing AI research and development projects from inception to completion.
    • Experience with deploying AI solutions in real-world applications and managing technical teams.
    • Strong background in deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialized AI areas.
  • Skills:
    • Deep technical expertise in AI algorithms, frameworks, and technologies (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, etc.).
    • Expertise in machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, and data analysis.
    • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other AI-related languages.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed computing.
    • Experience with data pipelines, big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark), and data visualization tools.
    • Strong project management skills, with experience managing large teams and budgets.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Interpersonal:
    • Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of researchers and engineers.
    • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with experience working cross-functionally with multiple departments.
    • Ability to think strategically, innovate, and navigate complex challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience:
    • Experience in applying AI in specific industries such as healthcare, finance, e-commerce, or autonomous systems is a plus.
    • A network of industry contacts, including collaborators, advisors, and potential partners.
  • Research Contributions:
    • A history of significant contributions to the AI research community, including published papers, patents, and speaking engagements.
