Gym Area Manager

We are seeking an Area Manager to oversee the operations, financial performance, and customer experience across multiple gym locations. This role focuses on driving operational excellence, achieving financial targets, and ensuring a high standard of customer satisfaction. With regular visits, the Area Manager will support gym managers in implementing company initiatives, ensuring consistency in service, and building a positive, engaging and motivating environment for both members and employees across the network.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple gym locations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company policies and standards.
- Monitor and optimize gym performance metrics, including member retention, acquisition, and satisfaction.
- Implement processes and initiatives to ensure smooth and standardized operational practices across all locations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train and develop a team of gym managers and staff to foster a motivated and high-performing culture.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement development plans for team growth.
- Ensure all staff are trained in sales, customer service, safety protocols, and fitness practices aligned with company guidelines.
Financial Management
- Set, monitor, and achieve budgeted targets for each gym location, focusing on revenue, cost management, and profitability.
- Analyze financial reports and KPIs to identify opportunities for revenue growth and expense reduction.
- Manage resources efficiently to control costs and ensure appropriate staffing levels and supplies across all locations.
Customer Experience & Retention
- Drive initiatives that improve member satisfaction and retention across gyms, maintaining high standards in cleanliness, equipment availability, and service quality.
- Address and resolve customer complaints, ensuring quick, effective resolutions and continuous improvement in service quality.
- Gather and analyze member feedback to make data-driven decisions that enhance the customer experience.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all locations adhere to health and safety regulations and that staff are trained in emergency and safety procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain cleanliness and equipment functionality, addressing issues promptly.
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with the marketing team to execute local campaigns, promotions, and events that drive brand visibility and member engagement.
- Develop and maintain strong community connections to increase membership and build partnerships within the local area.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, sports management, or a related field preferred.
- First Aid + AED Certification (or be willing to obtain)
- Prior experience as an Area Manager or similar multi-site role in the fitness, retail, or hospitality industry
- Extensive experience in team leadership, sales, and customer service.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to improving operational processes.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, expense management, and performance analysis.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a fitness environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and gym locations simultaneously.
