Our Engineers play a key role in ensuring both internal and external manufacturing operations run smoothly, constantly enhancing and introducing innovative practices. With diverse facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities in various specialties such as Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities, and Validation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In this position, you will contribute to the site's energy sustainability program and implement effective energy management practices to boost energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact. The program is designed to align with the global energy conservation initiative and Singapore Energy Act. You will assist the site in identifying energy efficiency opportunities, leveraging expertise, and overseeing projects to drive enhancements.

Additionally, you will assist Engineering Services in meeting profit targets, optimizing cost efficiency, and ensuring utility operations comply with cGMP and Safety regulations, focusing on reliable and consistent performance.

Cost Transformation and Energy Management

  • Supporting the utilities cost transformation program, acting as the project lead to ensure timely implementation, validation, and accurate reporting. Conduct analysis, risk identification, propose mitigation strategies, and present to the governance committee.
  • Back the site's energy efficiency program, introducing effective energy management practices to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. This program is aligned with global energy conservation efforts and the Singapore Energy Act. Drive the analysis of energy efficiency opportunities, utilize expertise, and spearhead projects to implement enhancements.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to bolster the site's energy conservation program, promoting energy awareness, conservation, and active participation across the site.
  • Support the implementation of a computerized energy monitoring system to enhance efficiency and sustainability on site.
  • Contribute to formulating strategic annual and long-term energy capital projects to ensure ongoing energy efficiency improvements and sustainable energy conservation, aligning with the site's energy policies.
  • Offer expertise in conducting energy audits, evaluating options, and providing solutions.
  • Promote the energy efficiency program company-wide to ensure a high level of awareness among all employees regarding energy usage and equipment efficiency.
  • Network with energy experts from other sites, the Global Energy Team, Pharma Energy Improvement teams, and government bodies to recommend established or innovative energy-saving programs and initiatives, continually exploring new energy conservation technologies with expert guidance.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, taking corrective actions to achieve objectives and escalating when necessary.

Engineering Services Support

  • Coordinate with GES on site process engineering design, construction, and equipment validation activities as needed.
  • Support the Energy Lead - Engineering in developing Profit Plan forecasts, executing activities to meet production and cost efficiency targets.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Energy Lead.

Management of Maintenance, Utilities & Facilities

  • Assist in the utility/process/system energy efficiency program by compiling and analyzing data, making recommendations to reduce wastage or implement alternative energy-efficient methodologies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and utilities managers to ensure all equipment undergo effective PM or predictive programs for high energy efficiency operations.
  • Participate in developing systems and programs to track energy conservation projects, cost savings from new initiatives, and establish annual stretch goals to lower energy costs at the site.
  • Prepare utility budgets, monitor actual spending, and track energy conservation projects against the budget. Analyze and report on risks and mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate the implementation of energy projects within utilities operations with minimal impact on manufacturing processes.
  • Recommend energy-efficient processes, systems, or proven equipment to Project Engineers during their capital planning or procurement phases.
  • Update the global energy project planning system to maintain an efficient energy conservation pipeline annually and over a 3-5 year period to ensure energy sustainability and reduced site energy consumption levels.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • As projects vary across the site and can be complex, adjustments in project priorities may affect planning. This role frequently requires making decisions and engaging stakeholders at various levels to resolve issues. For the energy reduction role, responsibilities include analyzing, developing projects, prioritizing, and planning resources for project completion.

Technical Competencies

  • Expertise in Energy Conservation Technologies, Proven Energy Savings Programs, Standards, and Benchmarking.
  • Application of theoretical engineering knowledge in practical scenarios.
  • Development and oversight of engineering budgets.
  • Planning engineering and non-engineering activities to support the role.
  • Utilization of risk-based decision-making principles.
  • Consistent application and promotion of Lean Six Sigma (LSS), Management Production System (MPS), and change management tools.

  • Demonstrate a strong safety commitment by understanding all safety procedures and standards.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance company safety, health, and environment standards, aiming for an injury-free workplace and improved environmental conditions.

cGMP Standards

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of cGMP and WQS standards.
  • Show advanced comprehension of cGMP regulations relevant to your work, consistently developing and implementing suitable solutions.
  • Look for ways to boost company cGMP standards and progress towards Sustainable Compliance.
  • Act as the subsystem owner for the Quality Management System - Plant Maintenance Calibration.

  • Show creativity, maturity, and foresight in offering highly innovative and practical solutions with potential strategic impact.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in analyzing and resolving complex problems that could impact different business units, demonstrating the ability to make quick, rational decisions under pressure.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undertake initiatives to achieve cost and energy reductions or continuous improvement projects within deadlines, budgets, and compliance criteria.
  • Effectively implement the Performance Management Process (PMP), develop objectives, provide timely feedback to direct reports, and recognize team members based on performance and leadership standards.
  • Execute tasks or projects assigned by the Supervisor based on business priorities.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Singapore Certified Energy Manager certification (preferred).
  • An advanced degree, such as a Masters, would be beneficial.
  • 5-10 years' work experience in engineering, manufacturing, consulting, or related industries.
  • Show leadership qualities aligned with our leadership standards.

Functional Competencies

  • Demonstrated expertise in project management for large or complex projects, collaborating in cross-functional teams to successfully deliver projects within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and divisional policies/guidelines, particularly in equipment design, qualification, preventive maintenance, and calibration.
  • Aptitude in managing vendor service contracts.
  • Understanding of System Life Cycle Methodology.
  • Familiarity with maintenance programs and requirements (reliability-centered, preventative, predictive).
  • Awareness of stewardship principles, including cGMP, regulatory inspection readiness, and safety, health, and environment aspects.
  • Ability to apply appropriate troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and capability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Competence in performance planning, setting objectives, defining metrics, action planning, reviews, and performance management.
  • Understanding of the site's value stream and customer-centric approach.
