About this role


The Information Management Consultant is responsible for effective records and information management advice to Education staff and Sites in accordance with legislative requirements and departmental policies and procedures.

The Consultant ensures consistency and integrity of the storage, disposal and life-cycle management of records and information in the department's Electronic Documents and Records Management System (EDRMS) and various bespoke line-of-business systems.

What you will do (key outcomes)

  • Responsible for the sector-wide disposal program and destruction of official records to ensure
legislative compliance with the State Records Act 1997, Information Management Strategy and

to digital records.

  • Liaising and networking with intra/interstate information and records management authorities and
other stakeholders with involvement in information management.

  • Maintaining high quality information, auditing, reporting and user documentation in information
management.

  • Investigating operational tools including Business Classification Schemes, Disposal Schedules and
Thesauri.

  • Delivering training modules across the Department for Education offices and Education sites to
ensure compliance with relevant information and records management legislation and compliance

strategies.

  • Developing recommendations that detail specific information and records management
improvements and strategies to senior management.

  • Provision of advice to a diverse range of clients and stakeholders relating to information and records
management practices and procedures, including identifying business process improvements by way

of digital transformation.

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by taking personal accountability by
identifying and reporting incidents, hazards and injuries in accordance with Department for Education

policy & procedure, and cooperating and complying with reasonable instructions of Department for

Education line management and WHS Officers.

  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively under limited direction, and to prioritise and manage a diverse range of tasks to achieve objectives within a changing and challenging work environment.
  • Experience in developing and implementing information governance and compliance strategies, including digital transformation business improvements and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of clear and appropriate information, documents, training materials and ability to train staff at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills including proven ability to negotiate effectively with a broad range of staff and stakeholders, work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding relevant legislation including the State Records Act 1997 (and related strategies, standards and guidelines), Information Privacy Principles and South Australian Cyber Security Framework.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and commitment to promoting and creating a safe and inclusive work environment; and the legislative requirements of Equal Opportunity and Work Health and Safety legislation.
