The Future Ready Food Safety Hub (FRESH) serves as Singapore's lead scientific platform under the Singapore Food Story R&D Programme, to bring together researchers, regulators and industry to build up Singapore's food safety science and R&D capabilities to secure Singapore's food supply and economic value proposition.

FRESH will embark on R&D and talent development activities to help enhance Singapore's local food regulatory capabilities and allow "first-in-market" food products to be safely launched in Singapore, as well as help promote Singapore-developed food standards internationally.

FRESH is part of the Singapore Food Story R&D Programme (SFS), with partner organisations being the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), A*STAR and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).


The Senior Research Fellow, Fermentation, will support FRESH research into food safety science and innovations in fermentation (solid state and submerged).

The position is suited to someone looking for innovative research activity who is experienced in food microbiology, fermentation and -omics analytical platform .

The role will be working closely with the FRESH Director to develop fermentation-based food safety risk assessment and comparative studies related to food digestion.


Key Responsibilities:
Develop solid state and submerged fermentation technologyHandle planning and execution of experimentMonitor research progressManage lab environment including tracking purchasesCommunicate research activities within the FRESH, FST and
NTU food communityTake charge of development on shared lab SOPs and workflows

Job Requirements:
PhD in a relevant discipline such as microbiology, food science and technology.
Candidates with experience in food fermentation technology, biotechnology, -omics analytical platforms, in silico analysis. will be advantageous.
Understanding of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PBPK-PD) model structure will be another advantage.
Direct experience working in a food labStrong background in food related researchComfortable with a role that crosses academic, industry and regulatory thinking
