Bloomberg thrives on data, and within the Data team, we gather, analyze, process, and publish the essential data that underpins our renowned Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. This data is what drives the financial markets by equipping clients with the facts and figures they need. We utilize our problem-solving skills to identify creative workflow enhancements, implement technological solutions to enhance our systems, products, and operations - all while delivering top-notch customer support.

The Team:

The APAC Holdings team focuses on providing leading shareholder ownership data and fund holdings, with a key responsibility of understanding data disclosure requirements in the APAC Markets. This data plays a crucial role in helping our customers gauge market sentiment and liquidity for making informed investment decisions. We gather data from various sources such as exchanges, company filings, issuer websites, registries, third-party providers, and establish relationships with Asset Managers and Asset Owners for direct data sourcing. The team's primary objectives revolve around automating the ETL pipeline to ensure timely and precise data delivery, alongside managing relationships and data procurement.

The Role:

The APAC Holdings team is in search of an enthusiastic leader to spearhead innovation in the Bloomberg Ownership and Portfolios products. You will leverage the ownership data collected by the team to pinpoint areas for enhancement and drive automation initiatives to streamline our data processing efforts using technical solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Sales to bolster our market presence and reinforce our brand as a competitive provider of Fund Holdings data. Your role will involve pushing product boundaries, utilizing analytical capabilities to overcome challenges, and engaging with various stakeholders internally while catering to a diverse range of clients including:

  • Traders seeking counterparties
  • Sales professionals scouting for prospects
  • Buyside Managers conducting Fund screening
  • Investor Relations Officers gathering intelligence on shareholders and peers' ownership profiles
  • Compliance Officers evaluating exposures
  • Quant analysts analyzing investment trends

We'll trust you to:

  • Inspire and lead a team with diverse skill sets in data analysis and management, encompassing ETL pipelining, business intelligence, data modeling, and data architecture
  • Empower your team to drive product enhancements in collaboration with Data/Core Product Owners and Engineering
  • Collaborate with other data and core business units such as Product, Sales, News, and Engineering to enhance purpose-driven data that fuels our products
  • Enhance Market presence and support the team in organizing seminars and procurement strategies across APAC
  • Mentor the team on substantial data projects and business initiatives related to data automation, machine learning, and process enhancement
  • Effectively communicate and cooperate with key partners in Core Product, Enterprise, Engineering, and other data teams
  • Remain informed about the financial industry landscape and the consumption of Bloomberg data by clients

You'll need to have:

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, direct or indirect, in projects or mentoring capacities
  • Proven expertise in data management principles and technologies like data modeling, analysis, statistics, or integration
  • 3-6 years of experience in the financial services sector, encompassing exchanges, market data providers, or financial institutions
  • A degree in relevant fields such as Economics, quantitative social sciences, finance, STEM, or equivalent qualifications
  • Technical proficiency to lead a team of data analysts and ensure high production standards
  • Passion for fostering relationships and strong communication skills to build internal and external networks effectively
  • Experience in formulating strategies, managing complex projects, and demonstrating leadership in change management or influencing others
  • Interest in mentoring individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds
  • In-depth knowledge of financial markets, data management/governance, and quality assurance practices
  • Proven ability to establish credibility and cultivate influential relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Progressive career growth within an organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English to articulately convey business needs and advocate for your team, as well as articulate business and operational strategies to your team
