Job Description

McCloskey by OPIS has an opening in its research team for a Senior Research Analyst I, Global Steel Analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role in McCloskey's expanding steel practice, initially focusing on green steel. This position is vital within our Steel and Steel Raw Materials group, and across the broader McCloskey research team.

This opportunity falls within the junior- to mid-level range in the global research team, reporting to the head of steel research. The chosen candidate will collaborate with our renowned journalists and price reporters.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the creation of monthly and weekly content covering steel and related products, emphasizing Green Steel.
  • Aid in maintaining monthly supply and demand balance sheets and price predictions.
  • Participate in generating research pieces on key industry topics (such as regulatory/policy changes, geopolitical matters, investments, project pipelines, ESG, etc.).
  • Lead the upkeep of McCloskey's global steel database and green steel project pipeline.
  • Build strong client and industry connections, ideally leveraging existing relationships from prior roles. Continuously exchange and gather market insights.
  • Engage in customized consulting projects.
Required Skills
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in the steel industry and/or markets.
  • Excellent qualitative skills (proficiency in MS Excel and VBA, familiarity with Python, SQL, PowerBI is a plus).
  • Outstanding written communication abilities.
  • Effective organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment, sometimes independently.
  • Bachelor's degree (preference for a quantitative discipline).
